Glassnote Records is proud to announce the newest addition to the independent label’s roster with the signing of Knoxville, Tennessee-based band, ROYAL BANGS.
ROYAL BANGS are currently recording their new album for release early 2011. ROYAL BANGS is frontman Ryan Schaefer, drummer Chris Rusk and guitarist Sam Stratton, who have been playing together since their high school days. In 2006, they released their home-recorded and self-produced album We Breed Champions, which caught the attention of Patrick Carney (The Black Keys) who re-issued the album in 2008 on his own Audio Eagle Records. Shortly thereafter, ROYAL BANGS recorded and released 2009’s Let It Beep at Carney’s studio in Akron, OH to critical acclaim.
After an electric performance at Lollapalooza 2010, SPIN Magazine crowned ROYAL BANGS as one of the best bands at the festival, stating, “Like a mix of LCD Soundsystem's pulsing electro-punk and the new wave-y shimmer of the Strokes, Royal Bangs tracks… featured frenetic riffs, busy drums, and dance-y keyboard melodies…Royal Bangs' set was without question the best thing...so far at Lollapalooza”.
“When we saw ROYAL BANGS powerful sets at Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo we were knocked out,” says Glassnote President Daniel Glass. “We feel next year’s album and tour will be one of the most exciting releases worldwide.”
ROYAL BANGS will be playing shows during the 2010 CMJ Music Marathon in New York City this October. More information on location and times to be announced shortly.
