Glassnote at Lollapalooza 2010!

This was an incredible year at Lollapalooza for Glassnote. After watching The Strokes and heading to the Black Keys party on Friday night, Glassnote's performances kicked off Saturday night with PHOENIX. The Band gave one of their best performances ever to a sea of people under the lights of the Chicago skyline. After their set, the Glassnote team, PHOENIX, MUMFORD & SONS, The Strokes, and Grizzly Bear all stuck around backstage hanging out. The next day, the sun came out just in time for MUMFORD & SONS' crowd-energizing performance where the audience sang along with every word. A few hours later, THE TEMPER TRAP'S crowd was so big that the only place to sit was in the surrounding trees. Jumping along with everyone to "Sweet Disposition" was a moment we will not forget from this year's festival. The weekend closed out with a Glassnote/BMF Media party at the Hard Rock Hotel. The room was completely packed, and everyone was treated to incredible performances by MUMFORD & SONS and THE TEMPER TRAP, in addition to a DJ set by PHOENIX. A particular highlight of the night was when MUMFORD and TTT combined forces for a rousing rendition of "Down River." The night wound down around 3 o'clock, at which point Daniel, Adam, Alex, and Nick grabbed their bags, headed straight to the airport, and went right back to the office to get to work without sleep. An unforgettable weekend!

My two most memorable summer meals

The first one took place at the West Street Grill in Litchfield CT. The meal started with parmesan aioli bread, heirloom tomato salad with the finest oil, spaghetti vongole, Cod, and crab cakes, accompanied by the perfect rose’ wine. For dessert we had chocolate bread pudding. The proprietors, James O'Shea and Charles Kafferman not only run a perfect kitchen but are also gracious hosts.

The second meal was at the restaurant La Maison Jaune in St. Remy de Provence. The chief Francois Perraud prepared the most incredible summer meal which highlighted the best and freshest foods and flavors of Provence. Sitting on the second floor terrace you were transported to an old village... Between the pink sunset and beautiful old buildings you knew the meal coming is going to be special. We had cold tomato soup with chunks of watermelon, sea bass and A provencal omelet with herbs and tapenade. The gentleman who served us (formally of Cabre D’or) was incredibly attentive and helpful. His suggestions were perfect.... And any meal with a bottle of Chateau Theurry rose wine is special!

Pop Tart World!

We know, we know. You’re jealous JUST by the title of this blog. But Pop Tart world is not an urban legend, it does exist, and boy is it amazing. We travelled over to the newly opened Pop Tart World near Times Square to relive some childhood memories and get some Pop Tart Sushi. There was a custom t-shirt booth, a whole Pop Tart CafĂ© where different food combinations with Pop Tarts were served, and “The Varitizer” where you could make your own combo pack of different Pop Tarts.

While the sushi was slightly disappointing (apparently ground up pop tarts wrapped in a fruit roll up isn’t a great combination), and ants on a log topped with pop tart is just plain odd, the freshly toasted Pop Tarts were just as perfect as we remembered. Here are some pictures from our adventure:
